About the Artwork
A hall of fame, written on grass
For over a century, the grass courts of the All England Club have been the spiritual home of tennis. The Grass Courts – Hall of Fame gathers that legacy into a single frame. Marta Bazan’s illustration carries us onto the most storied lawn in the sport, where iconic moments, signature shots and the silhouettes of champions meet. History unfolds again, right before our eyes.
Serve and Volley Art puts it this way: “With The Grass Courts – Hall of Fame, we set out to capture the elegance of the sport in a way that outlasts time, exactly as the legend of this tournament endures.” Marta Bazan packed the composition with details that any lover of tennis history and statistics will treasure. A keen eye will find, among the figures:
- Boris Becker, the 17-year-old German who became the youngest unseeded champion in the tournament’s history,
- Goran Ivanišević, who lifted the title as a wild card after three heartbreaking defeats in earlier Wimbledon finals.
- Traditional craftsmanship
As complex and multi-figure as it is, the composition began digitally, but the final original is 100% handmade. The drawing was transferred onto paper by hand, section by section, on a light pad. The first layer of colour comes from the distinctive bleed of alcohol markers, while the final depth, texture and crisp detail are built up in layered coloured pencil..
Collector-grade fine art
The choice of Galerie Rag 270gsm paper is no accident. Its 100% cotton content lets the print echo the traditional surface of the original, with a deeply matt finish and a texture that feels velvety to the touch. Unlike ordinary poster paper, this refined stock does not reflect light, so every detail of the illustration stays fully visible even in sun-filled rooms. The artwork is also available as a canvas print, and the original, hand-drawn piece awaits its owner in our gallery.
Printing technique
How we print our fine art posters
Every Serve and Volley Art tennis poster begins with an artist’s original work, whether a hand-painted picture or a digital illustration. We digitise the artwork with scanners at over 1200 DPI and verify colour fidelity through colour proofing. We print exclusively using the pigment (giclée) technique, the same one used by museums and galleries around the world. Pigment inks resist UV, moisture and the passage of time, and testing confirms colour permanence exceeding 75 years in home conditions.
We produce every order individually. Your Fine Art Print is printed specially for you, quality-checked and packed in a protective cardboard tube. From order to dispatch takes 2 to 3 working days. Choose a frame locally, as the poster dimensions match the most popular ready-made frame sizes.
- Galerie Rag paper 270 g/m² (100% cotton): Refined, premium, matt, acid-free and free of optical brighteners. Its smooth, velvety surface keeps whites natural and gives colours remarkable depth. The paper does not yellow or grow brittle over time.
- Giclée pigment printing: We use an advanced technique with 12 pigment inks. Unlike ordinary printing, the pigments sink deep into the cotton fibres, giving perfect tonal transitions and detail that an ordinary poster cannot reproduce.
- Glare-free matt depth: Thanks to the fully matt paper base, the print does not reflect light. You can enjoy the artwork comfortably even in bright, sunlit rooms, whatever angle you view the wall from.
- Resistant to UV and fading, 75+ years
- Longevity (75+ years): Our prints undergo rigorous ageing tests. The pigments’ resistance to UV light ensures the colours stay just as intense for decades, making your poster a true collector’s piece.
- Protection and format: We ship posters in thick, reinforced tubes, wrapped in protective tissue. The formats are optimised for standard frames (from professional framers to popular framing systems), which keeps framing simple and intuitive.

Meet the artist
Marta Bazan
Marta is an illustrator in love with colour, shape, line and pattern. She makes light-hearted illustrations saturated with a boundless palette of colour. In everyday life she values restraint, but in her work what matters most are countless details, colour and light. She loves drawing playful characters, architecture and still lifes. Her aim is to bring a smile to the people who see her work, the little ones and the fully grown alike. She keeps pushing her skills to come closer to her own idea of perfection: the imagination and lightness of a child.
“Engineering turned out to be too serious and marketing too pushy, so going back to a teenage passion was a bullseye.”
She works in traditional media, with a few small exceptions, now and then swapping gouache for a tablet. More and more she reaches for markers or coloured pencils, which give her even more freedom and more room to play with form and texture. She adores retro book and magazine illustration, but in truth she finds most of her inspiration in everyday life: people she meets by chance, colourful fashion and travel.
No, she does not play tennis, but she is brilliant at cheering from the stands and in front of the television.

Frequently Asked Questions
A fine art print is a top quality reproduction made using pigment printing on archival photographic paper. At SVA we use Galerie Rag 270gsm cotton paper. It is the same technique museums and galleries use to reproduce works of art, and its colour fastness exceeds 75 years. An ordinary poster is offset or digital print on thin, glossy wood pulp paper. It is cheaper, but it fades quickly and does not hold the subtle tonal transitions.
Galerie Rag is a premium photographic paper made from 100% cotton, with a weight of 270gsm. It has a matt, smooth surface with no glare, ideal for art reproduction. Unlike wood pulp papers, cotton paper does not yellow over time and stays pH neutral, which guarantees the archival longevity of the print. It is the standard paper used by galleries and collectors worldwide.
No, our fine art prints are sold unframed. We ship them in a sturdy cardboard tube that keeps them safe in transit. You can easily find a matching frame at a local framing shop, an art supply store, or online. Our print sizes match the most common ready-made frame dimensions (30 × 40, 40 × 50, 50 × 70, 70 × 100 and 100 × 140 cm).
We ship the print in a sturdy cardboard tube with an extra layer of protective paper that shields it from moisture and creasing. The tube is sealed, and inside you will find the edition certificate. Production time: 1-2 business days. Delivery time: 1-2 business days. Shipping is free on orders over €100.
Like all our fine art prints, “Grass Courts – Hall of Fame” has a clean white border that gives it a gallery feel and a little breathing room inside the frame. Because the illustration is rich in the greens of the Wimbledon lawn, it sits beautifully in a warm, natural wood frame such as oak or ash, which echoes the grass and keeps the whole piece relaxed and inviting. If you prefer a sharper, more contemporary look, a matt black frame wraps the colours in crisp contrast. Both work well, so the choice comes down to your interior. And because the sizes match standard frame dimensions, you can pick a ready-made frame with no custom work.
A fine art poster is an archival pigment print on Galerie Rag photographic paper (270 g/m²); it requires framing and is suitable for classic, collector-style display. A canvas print is a pigment print on Hahnemühle cotton canvas (365 g/m²) stretched over a wooden stretcher, ready to hang, with the texture of the fabric clearly visible.
The fine art print edition of Marta Bazan’s “Grass Courts – Hall of Fame” comes in a limited run of 50 numbered copies.
